“I’ve got a great story to tell about finding yourself in the midst of the chaos of life and then actively choosing not to get lost again! I give myself fully to each element in my life: my marriage, my son, my career, and my commitment to philanthropy. Sometimes that means I don’t shave my legs for weeks at a time or fail to get my heart rate up to an aerobic level, but those are the trade-offs I feel comfortable making. I respect that another woman wouldn’t dream of skipping something like shaving yet may not have time for something I value. That’s the beauty of being a modern woman — we have the ability to make those choices for ourselves and the responsibility to own the results!

Plus, I don’t look like a super model…I look like a mom on a mission! I know that perfection is completely in the eye of the beholder and its always a moving target. So, I keep moving!

I’m less of a mommy master and more of a mommy work-in-progress! But, along the way I’m doing a few things right and I’d love to share that with your readers. First, I’ve found a way to balance my professional passion with my personal. I’m a freelance writer working on projects that nourish my mind and coerce me to stretch my capacity as a creative (my business is called Penn & Ink Communications and you can find me on LinkedIn).

Second, as a means toward using my skill to express myself using my own voice, rather than that of my clients, I’m an infrequent blogger. I’d love to share my blog, chock full of personal thoughts and reflections on life and its ups and downs, with readers who may offer gentle responses to my ramblings. Check out my blog at www.pennandink.blogspot.com.

Third, I’m a do-gooder right down to my soul and I’ve been working with a friend for five years to raise money for her endowment through a women’s golf outing that I created (Ladies Tee Party Charity Golf Scramble). The endowment is funded solely by this event, and the money is spent in our community helping families who’ve experienced the loss of a child through stillbirth to provide internment that meets their personal needs. Its a sad situation to be sure, but we’ve managed to connect with hundreds of women and harnessed all of their positive energy and financial support in order to help start the process of healing for each family facing such a sad goodbye. Learn more about the endowment and the event at www.ladiesteeparty.com and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ladies-Tee-Party-Charity-Golf-Scramble/145452445507092.  (its as grassroots as you can get and always a work in progress, so don’t judge a book by its less than spectacular cover!)

Thanks very much to Maureen for sharing her story with Mommy Masters!  It’s certainly clear why she deserves the title!

Congratulations, what a wonderful charity and one that is overlooked by those who don’t know what it is like to loose a child this way. You deserve all the accolades and then some. Will let my friends in Florida know about your TeeParty.
